Executive Summary
Bill Bode is Chief Operating Officer of Planet Fitness, responsible for how its franchise clubs, company-owned clubs and equipment business actually run. He has been inside the company since 2016 and has held most of its operating jobs in turn. His grounding is unusual for a public-company COO: he was a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee in Richmond, Virginia before spending years on the franchisor’s side at Dunkin’ Brands, ending as the regional vice president over more than 2,600 Northeast restaurants. Planet Fitness is about 90 percent franchised, so the person running operations has to be fluent in persuading owners as well as directing staff.

Professional Journey
Bode studied finance and political science at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Before joining Dunkin’ Brands he was on the franchisee side of the counter, as a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee in Richmond, Virginia.
He then joined Dunkin’ Brands and held a series of senior roles there. They covered U.S. brand compliance, business development, store development, training, marketing and franchising. His last Dunkin’ job was Regional Vice President of Dunkin’ Donuts Northeast. That role made him responsible for more than 2,600 restaurants, more than 300 franchisee groups and the field operations team that supports them.
Planet Fitness hired him in December 2016 as Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations, overseeing operational performance and ongoing support for its franchisees. Four years later, in December 2020, the company promoted him to Chief Operations Officer. He kept franchise operations and added corporate club operations, vendor management and global operations across departments. At that point the company said he had more than 35 years in franchising.
In September 2022 he became Division President, U.S. Franchise, which put the domestic franchise system under one executive. In February 2025, under Chief Executive Colleen Keating, the company announced a realignment that created a single Chief Operating Officer role over both franchise and corporate clubs. Bode took the job on 3 March 2025, reporting to Keating. The company’s 2026 proxy describes the remit as operational oversight of the franchise, corporate club and equipment segments.
He presented the member experience strand of the company’s strategy at its November 2025 Investor Day, under the heading of executing a high-value member experience. The system he oversees had about 2,930 clubs and 21.5 million members as of June 2026.
