Executive Summary
Bahram “BJ” Jalalizadeh is a telecommunications sales and business development executive who spent more than a decade building and running the worldwide sales organisation at Mavenir, the network software company that supplies cloud-native core, messaging, security and radio access software to mobile operators. Mavenir’s proposition is disruptive by design: it sells software that runs on commodity cloud infrastructure in place of the proprietary, vertically integrated boxes that traditional network equipment vendors sell, which means every sale is also an argument about how an operator should build its network. Jalalizadeh’s distinctive achievement was winning that argument repeatedly at the largest carriers — Mavenir credits him with securing wins and partnerships at 17 of the top 20 service providers globally. He transitioned out of the Executive Vice President role at the end of January 2026, as part of a company-wide leadership restructuring that followed Mavenir’s recapitalisation, and remained engaged as a consultant on ongoing customer programmes.

Professional Journey
Jalalizadeh trained as an electrical engineer at the University of Oklahoma and later took an MBA at the University of Dallas, a combination that shaped a career spent on the commercial side of deeply technical products. He entered telecommunications at Nortel Networks as Director of Market Development, working on the transition from circuit-switched voice networks toward packet architectures.
He moved to Spatial Wireless as Vice President of Business Development, where he was responsible for market development strategy during the period when soft switches — software controllers replacing dedicated switching hardware — were first being adopted by mobile operators. Alcatel acquired Spatial Wireless, and Jalalizadeh stayed on as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Mobile Next Generation, taking the softswitch portfolio global. That decade gave him the thesis he would carry for the rest of his career: that network functions would progressively detach from proprietary hardware.
Mavenir was the company built on that thesis, and Jalalizadeh joined early. As Executive Vice President he ran worldwide sales and, depending on the period and the source, strategic marketing or business development alongside it. The job amounted to persuading large, conservative carriers to buy core network software from a challenger rather than from an incumbent equipment vendor, and Mavenir’s own account credits him with landing 17 of the world’s 20 largest service providers.
In December 2025 Mavenir announced a refocus onto mobile core and AI-native networking following a recapitalisation, realigning into two business segments and naming four senior executives — Jalalizadeh among them, alongside the chief financial officer, the president of core networks and the SVP of engineering — who would transition out of their roles at the end of January 2026. Mavenir said Jalalizadeh would remain engaged as a consultant supporting ongoing customer programmes. Mavenir’s public leadership page had not been updated to reflect the change when this profile was last reviewed.
